Title: Manufacturing process similarity measurement model and application based on constituent process elements

  • Proposed Method
    • Manufacturing technique process is established on the basis of six dimensions of process constituent elements
    • Solve the similarity based on each dimension
Determine the weights of dimensions of the six elements
  • Keywords: manufacturing technique process, similarity, constituent process elements, angle information entropy, process classification

1. Introduction

1.1 Motivation

  • Product diversity has considerably increased the complexity of manufacturing process planning and management
  • Frequent process conversions have also increased a considerable amount of time, thereby increasing the cost burden
  • The product manufacturing process must be classified according to the relevant features of the manufacturing technique process

1.2 Related Works

1.2.1 Mfg. process similarity based on product characteristics
  • similarity measures of different shapes in computer vision and graphics
  • similarity comparison of the overall shape and local features of processed parts
  • product feature vectors as the basis for evaluating shape similarity

1.2.2 Mfg. process similarity based on process characteristics
  • clustering and grouping method for parts based on the similarity of processing resources
  • similarity of the manufacturing process in a dynamic block production environment based on a series of assumptions
  • unit manufacturing grouping decision, the similarity of related production data
  • business process management method to solve the similarity of manufacturing process operation flows

1.4 Proposed Method

  • This study proposes a measurement model of manufacturing process similarity based on process constituent elements
  • Focusing on the characteristic indices of such elements, the similarity of the semantic space vector attribute, text sequence, string set, interval and trapezoidal fuzzy attributes are calculated to determine the corresponding similarity values in each dimension
  • The combination of the extended interval analytic hierarchy process (EIAHP) and angular information entropy ensures the rationality of the weight calculation in six dimensions.

2. Method

<Six-dimensional constituent elements of mfg. process>

  • Manufacturing process of any product could be summarised as a process system composed of six-dimensional constituent elements. The similarity of the manufacturing process depends on the similarity of these elements.
  • Six-dimensional constituent elements
    • Input(I)
    • Output(O)
    • Resources(R)
    • Value-add processing activities(V)
    • Environment(E)
    • Quality control & inspection(QCI)

<Similarity mechanism framework>

    • Mechanism Layer: Similarity mechanism of the mfg. process
    • Element Layer: decomposed into six process constituent elements
    • Indicator Layer: specific indicators of the process constituent elements of each dimension
